An eye exam at Clear Eye Center is an opportunity to gauge your current level of vision and also to check for any signs of the most common eye diseases. It may not seem all that important when you feel perfectly fine, but that's exactly why it needs to be done. Most eye problems develop and progress without any obvious symptoms. If they're not detected as part of our
Coppell eye exams, they can lead to complications that include potential vision loss. Finding them early is linked to the best odds of a positive outcome. Our optometrist, Dr. Paul Heeg, will also determine if you are having any difficulties with nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, or presbyopia. And if so, any of these issues can be easily corrected with a prescription for eyeglasses or contact lenses.

If you already wear corrective lenses, an annual eye exam will provide the chance to find out if your prescription needs to be updated. Your eyes and your vision needs will often change from year to year. And if your eyeglasses or contacts are not giving you the best vision possible, then their value is diminished. Using a variety of tests and an eye chart in our
Coppell eye exams, Dr. Heeg will check your vision at all distances as well as from side to side (peripheral). Of course, if you do need contacts or glasses, our optician will be able to make them for you right here. We carry a huge selection of designer frames for you to choose from. And with contact lenses, rigid lenses and soft lenses are available. Among soft contacts, you have your pick of daily wear, extended wear, disposable, and color changing.
A tonometry test is the baseline to check for glaucoma. It measures your internal eye pressure. Other glaucoma tests will be performed during our
Coppell eye exams if necessary. Cataracts are detected using a slit-lamp exam, a light that sees inside your eyes, as well as by having you read from an eye chart. If you have diabetes, either type one or type two, you will also be screened for diabetic retinopathy. Those over the age of 60 will be tested for macular degeneration.
