Both eye exams will include a complete eye screening for many different eye diseases including: glaucoma; macular degeneration; cataracts; diabetic retinopathy; retinal tears; dry eye and other problems of the cornea, macula, and retina. There are many eye diseases, such as glaucoma, which show no symptoms in the early stages. These diseases can be easily diagnosed at our vision practice, Clear Eye Center – Heeg, during an eye exam, which leads to early treatment. When the eye disease is diagnosed in its early stage, our patients vision will most likely be able to be saved from any permanent vision damage. However, if glaucoma is not diagnosed and is allowed to progress, permanent damage can be done to the optic nerve. Our optometrist uses the Stratus OCT and Digital Retinopathy System so that he can easily diagnose glaucoma and other problems of the retina. This system is considered to be the leading-edge system for comprehensive retina and glaucoma management. It provides high resolution imaging for management of retinal problems and diseases. Changes to the retina can also be determined using this technology, when it is used over a period of time at subsequent eye exams.
